The holiday season should be a happy time when we should concentrate on being with family and enjoy the time spent together. When we run a successful and thriving business, we deserve to have guilt-free fun with nary a worry about anything. But this is the same season when robbers will want to have an incredible time too, thanks to an entitled sense of security prevailing in all of us.
Robbers are usually opportunists, they don’t commit a felony when a commercial property is fully guarded, it mostly happens when they know that there is no one to confront them or catch them in the act. Statistics from the FBI’s website says there were more than 7.9 million property crimes in 2016 alone whose losses amounted to $15.6 billion. This time of the year an office space is filled with inventories for Christmas, laptops, furniture, electronic items, all of which are attractive to the thieves. Protecting all means of entry with metal doors, burglar alarms, and a full-time security team is a step towards security. But is that enough protection?

1. If your regular security guys are on vacation for the holidays, have you appointed other security personnel to take care of your property?

Once you answer these questions in all its seriousness, you can decide to take steps towards protecting your property.
With all that said, even the knowledge that there is some form of a security system installed would be a deterrent for robbers. Numerous studies show that commercial properties that don’t have a proper security system installed are more likely to be robbed because robbers are usually on the prowl for targets that don’t involve high risk.
